For the past two months, I have been writing a lesson a day to keep track of something I learned that day, so in respect of the New Year, I wanted to post some of the biggest lessons I learned to keep in mind for the New Year. We all want to achieve something and to have a fantastic year, so here are a few tips to make 2016 the best year ever!
- Have faith in what you’re doing. You always have to be positive in everything that you do.
- Friendships are some of the most irreplaceable things in the world.
- Say yes more often. You’ll be surprised with what you find, but…
- Learn when to say no. There’s a limit to everything (almost).
- Cheer up a friend when you’re down. Seeing someone else smile can bring happiness to your life.
- Focus on the good things.
- Education is one of the most valuable resources today. Never forget to keep educating yourself constantly.
- Solitude is hard to come by when you’re an extrovert, but companionship is a desire for an introvert. No matter which one you are, a healthy balance of both is good to have for healthy relationships.
- Second chances are a beautiful thing.
- a) You have to keep motivating yourself every day. You can’t forget what you’re aiming for. Motivation is something you replenish every day. Keep that in mind. b) Motivation is something that needs to be tangible. It has to mean something to you. It has to hurt when you don’t achieve your goal. You can’t just think about it and forget about it later. You have to make your motivation part of the real world to make it mean something to you.
- Placing yourself in a position of great discomfort can lead you to learn a lot about yourself.
- Preparation is the best key to success.
- Ambition is the drug of the young. They want to accomplish so much in such little time that they forget how to live.
- Don’t let yourself be the burden of your dreams. If you want something, don’t be afraid to take it. You have to know what is keeping you from achieving your dreams. Otherwise, you’ll be stuck trying to be content with yourself.
- Remember to give yourself a break once in a while.
- Make the most out of everyday. Never waste it.
Happy New Year everyone!

Archive work matters because old thoughts only stay useful if they remain legible, searchable, and connected to the conversations around them.
This is truly an insightful post! Self-reflecting on what you learned each day is a great idea. I will have to incorporate it into my 2016 resolutions. You took away a lot of great lessons in 2015, I hope you continue to grow and inspire.
