It’s hard to understand what’s wrong with the world when all you’ve seen your entire life was all the good that it had to offer. It’s not about what you think is the problem. It’s not about how you think you can solve the problem. It’s about actually experiencing something that you will never be able to see a glimpse of in your normal life. It’s about knowing what you possess and restraining yourself from denying it. Your sympathy and denial can only get you so far away from seeing the truth. The only reason you believe that everyone is fine and equal is because you have no clue what everyone else goes through. You have no clue what it’s like to live a life in fear and shame. You have no clue that the people around you feel inferior just because you are the supposed king of the hill. That you are the “chosen one.” There is no changing this. What you think you understand is just the tip of the iceberg. It’s ingrained into our culture. No matter how much we want to change it, it won’t happen in our lifetime. There will be the certain few who will have the upper hand. No doubt about it. It’s the way it’s always been. But why not change that? Sure, it will take a while, but why don’t we give the change a head start, shall we? It’s hard to see change in the time that we live in, and it’s hard to see anyone trying to inspire that change. But it is possible. Someday.

Archive work matters because old thoughts only stay useful if they remain legible, searchable, and connected to the conversations around them.
