Finding your inner peace is probably one of the hardest things that you can try in life. Given that there are hundreds of different challenges thrown at us on any given day, this is definitely not an easy feat. You might have had a car wreck, a coworker might be annoying you, it could even be as simple as spilling some coffee on your shirt. We can get close to this peace on our personally defined perfect day, but maintaining this almost seems impossible. What I find interesting is that some of the people who have found their inner peace are the ones living secluded from society. They have completely removed adversity from their daily lives so that they can live in peace. To me, it’s not fair to remove yourself from the world only to be ever so close with it. I would very much like to be at peace while also maintaining a healthy balance of human society along with it. It makes it a lot more challenging with all of the distractions around you, which I think truly defines inner peace. Inner peace is not a sort of coping mechanism from realizing all of the evils in the world. I’d like to think of it more as a way for us to be better people and recognize the lessons we learn from the many challenging situations we face. It helps us calm ourselves whenever everything around us seems to be in total chaos. To find this, however, will be a different experience for every person plus it will look different from person to person, too. It usually looks like a silent guided mind but sometimes it will look like the happiest state of being because his or her mind is in complete serenity. Not everyone looks for this though, which deeply saddens me. Contentment can lead us to a stagnant society in which evolution is rampant in all of it’s other aspects. Joy can be promising, but it is ultimately momentary along with every other emotion parallel or opposed to it. Inner peace will last a lifetime, but it is easier said than done. One thing that will lead us to it is relieving ourselves from all that is bad and focusing entirely on what is good.
