Sometimes, I wish a certain time in my life plays out a little differently than what actually happened. I think a lot of people think about these things that they wish had happened, but something else happens then they’re all upset because the thing they didn’t want to happen happened (You keeping up?). We all wish that we could change the outcome of at least one point in our lives. Anyways, I love sharing things, so this is a list of the things that I wish went a different direction. To make it more interesting, I’ll let you figure out what actually happened by telling you the complete opposite of what happened.

1. As a responsible student, I worked on my paper right after my last class so that I could get the right amount of sleep and be productive the next morning. The paper was due the next day and I wanted the sleep, so I finished the paper before 11 PM so that I didn’t spend an all-nighter.

2. I saw a piece of trash on the ground during a really windy day. It was blowing by really fast, so I acted faster and picked it up. I threw it away.

3. I gave a homeless man some food because he really looked like he really needed it. I had some cash on my pocket and there was a McDonald’s nearby, so I bought him a couple of sandwiches and some coffee.

4. Before I started college, I promised myself that I would workout every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and I kept that promise. I found out that I had a really extreme passion for exercise, and now, I try to tell people the benefits of exercising to promote good health.

5. I was driving really slow when it was raining really hard like a responsible person. As I turned a really sharp curve, I slowed down even more because it was really dangerous to go fast.

6. On the day I didn’t have class, I woke up early so that I could hang out with a couple of my friends before I had a really productive day of writing papers and studying for finals.

7. While I was hanging out with my crush, she fell asleep, and I built up enough courage to tell her how I felt. After she woke up, we had an ordinary conversation, then I finally told her how I felt, and she told me that she felt the same way.

8. I was a young kid when the carnival was in town, and my mom gave me enough money to pay for some of the rides, which should have lasted me the three days the carnival was in town. I didn’t blow all of it in one day to show to my mom that I was grown up enough to take care of my finances.

Last note

Archive work matters because old thoughts only stay useful if they remain legible, searchable, and connected to the conversations around them.
