It seems like it was just yesterday that I posted this, but alas, it feels like it’s time for another installment of ‘Stuff That I Wish Would Have Happened Otherwise‘. Just to recap. This is a list of what the title blatantly already hints at, but as a twist, I’ll write the complete opposite of what actually happened just to add some p’zaz to it. So, without further ado, here’s a list of the stuff that I wish would have happened otherwise (Hm. Deja vu):

  1. As an amateur stunt artist, I walked through a bed of hot coals to impress a few people. I was so surprised when I didn’t get any blisters on my feet the next day.
  2. I followed my promise to myself of learning Spanish through an app by spending at least 20 minutes everyday on it during the summer.
  3. When this girl was talking to me, I knew in my gut that she was flirting with me. By the end of our conversation, I asked for her number, and she gave it to me.
  4. I started my own business of selling jelly beans as a kid. I made enough money to keep growing my inventory as well as invest in other assets.
  5. I didn’t get pulled over by a cop.
  6. I didn’t give my number to a girl because I knew that if I got into a relationship with her, it would end up in catastrophe and endless texts of “Why did you break up with me?”
  7. I joined a band and did fantastic on our first gig.
  8. I spent a lot of time with my friends during the summer.
  9. When I was running the Chocolate Milk Mile (Drinking a cup of chocolate milk from a gallon every quarter mile and finishing the rest of the gallon before the last lap), I never threw up a single time, and I felt extremely accomplished at the end.

Archive work matters because old thoughts only stay useful if they remain legible, searchable, and connected to the conversations around them.
